This trail starts at the arboretum in the village of Broadford. If you have time, visit the arboretum which was formally a limestone quarry now planted with native Irish trees and shrubs.Follow the red arrows through the village. This looped trail covers a variety of terrain from quiet country roads, tree lined laneways, and farmland.As you progress through this walk, you will have spectacular views of Limerick and on clear days the Shannon Estuary can be seen in the distance. You will be walking through a lovely wooded path beside the glen that this walk is named after. You will descend through a farm crossing through fields and over stiles. This is a working farm so please ensure gates are kept closed.The trail will eventually bring you to the historical site of Killagholehane church where there is a story board detailing the history and unique folklore of the area. The walk ends back in the car park in the village of Broadford.Walk DirectionsA – B. Walk west from the trailhead through the village of Broadford following the red arrows. Take the first turn to the left. Walk past the forge and take the next turn right at the road junction. After 500m rejoin the main road turning left. At the next junction walk right and after 100m enter the laneway on the left. Continue along the laneway you come to a Y junction. Veer right.B – C. Following the red arrows walk along the lane - way. Having passed the ruins of Curramore House on the left go right and continue on until you reach a stile on the left leading you into fields of green pasture. Remaining inside the fence walk through the fields. Soon you will be overlooking the trees of An Gleann Beag. Continue on through the fields and between the ferns. Take a rest on the seat overlooking the pic - turesque views of West Limerick. Follow the trail until you cross the stile leading you onto a roadway.C – D. Turn left and walk 1km along this quiet road - way until you come to a farm entrance on the left marked by the red arrow.D – B. The trail arrows lead you along a passageway, over a stile into a field. Walk through the fields inside the farm fence. A seat is in place beside the next stile, enjoy the views before you resume your walk. Further on, another stile will bring you back onto the farm passageway. Turn right. Follow the trail down - hill reaching a stile and at at the foot of the hill cross another stile and turn right. Continue until you see Killagholehane Church ruins on your right. Visit the Church ruins. Return to the trail and with your back to the Church turn right and follow the red arrows. Cross the timber bridge and return to Point BB – A. Walk along the laneway until you reach the road junction. Turn right and walk for 100m. Turn left and continue to the next junction. Walk to the right for 500m until you come to a T junction. Go left, bringing you back to the village. Turn right and return to the trailhead in Broadford.
